Autonomy, risk prevention and participation in later life

The use of augmented reality (AR) technologies, which overlay reality with helpful information, has great potential for increasing independence in later life. However, the use of the technology has so far been based on the use of AR glasses and competence in handling them. Physical and medical conditions lead to considerable usage problems. The BMBF-funded ALiS project aims to implement AR in everyday life without having to use wearables or AR glasses. Instead, helpful information is projected directly into the room using projectors, loudspeakers and sensors. Intelligent spatial recognition is used to integrate functions into everyday life in different areas of the home – creating an Augmented Living Space (ALiS).
